What I've learned...

What I've learned in the last two months.
I've learned that cancer has a voracious appetite and lung cancer never goes away.
It's always too early to say good-bye to loved ones, even when the end is inevitable.
Sewing doesn't fix everything, or mend all broken hearts.
But the human race has an immense amount of creativity and through the miracles of modern medicine, the body can endure amazing things.
Also, people can live with very little useful lung capacity.
I was making a surprise for my father and at a certain point it just became too difficult to look at my project sitting there. I had other projects in the works, but somehow, I couldn't bring myself to put my father's project aside to work on anything else either. Silly, I know.
But I think it's time to open up my sewing room again. It's rather dusty. But it's time.
Cheers,

Dionne

  2. Paula is right, take it slow. Don't put what you were making for your father away. Keep it out and remember the good times you had with him and how much he loved you. You will miss him the rest of your life.

  4. I too had missed your posts, and wondered where you were...sorry I didn't inquire. Take it easy, these things are hard and difficult, but somehow we get through. Go easy on yourself and just know that you will forever look at life differently, and really that will be a good thing eventually.
Welcome back quilt friend and know you were missed!

  8. Hang in there.....no sewing can't fix everything, but it can be soothing to ones broken heart. Stay strong and cry all the tears you need too. Peace.

  11. it is so lovely to have you back - i had a feeling something was very wrong and have been thinking of you and wondering whether to email or not. Take things slowly, one day at a time, some will be good and others not so. Hopefully the happy memories will outweigh the bad ones.
lots of love and big hug,

  12. I have a quilt tip that I was making for my Dad when he passed away from cancer. It was tough. I take it out sometimes to work on it but than again I am OK with leaving it just the way it is too...

Take care of yourself...give yourself time to heal.

  13. I'm so sorry to hear that you were dealing with so much. I was thinking of you, and missed you. I too know how difficult this time is for you. Take the time to heal and grieve. Sewing can be a solace, but don't force yourself. And try to remember all the happy times with your dad, and how much he loved you.
    Sending you (((hugs))).
