Kathie at Inspired by Antique Quilts pointed out to me that she (Diane) actually does her fabulous work on a Bernina. This makes her work even more impressive (to me) than it already was.
Also, I find this error rather ironic on two counts. At my Day Job, I never ASSUME anything ~ as a software quality assurance engineer. It's my job to catch the mistakes other people make because THEY'VE made false assumptions!
And I actually provided a link to Diane Gaudynski's website which clearly states that she uses a Bernina. When I went to the website, I got so distracted by all the pretty pictures, I didn't actually read the text. Silly Didi!
Ok, now on to other stuff.
Ok, now on to other stuff.
I took a short break from my forray into the world of Applique to finish another lap quilt. It's yet another quilt built from swap blocks. Yes, I am forever swapping!
This swap consisted of 12" Nine patch blocks. I'm not sure what the other participants did with their blocks, but I knew I wan't to do a Disappearing 9-Patch. I like how the black border and binding framed the deep predominantly jewel toned colors.
And because I didn't ~ and still don't (poor me) have a lovely Bernina capable of super cool embroidery, I went over to my LQS (Quiltworks Northwest) and had them make this beautiful label for me. I think it's really fabulous.
I put the label on the back before I did the quilting, and I realize that I didn't even think about placement. Oh well!
It is an amazing thing to see Diane Gaudynski's quilting! She is an incredible quilter. I believe that Harriet Hargrove, Sue Nickels, and Ricky Tims also do all of their machine quilting on a regular Bernina sewing machine. Sigh..... maybe one day.
ReplyDeletehey I totally understand I am always in awe when I see her quilts...forget the words give me the pictures!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt and the label is fine!
Its labeled and thats what's important
Kathie
Your d9p looks great! It is such a fun pattern and one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteYour D9P looks great! I love it! And the label is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love the muddy colors that DG uses too...
ReplyDeleteLove the way your 9-patch ended out!
Ooh, I really like that quilt! The colors and layout are awesome. The scrappiness definitely elevates it above your standard disappearing nine patch.
ReplyDeleteHi Dionne, I just dropped by to say a quick hello. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteDiane's quilting is amazing. I have a Bernina 440 which should be able to do a fancy quilting job, but it would take a very talented quilter to do so. So far I've only been able to do stitch in the ditch and sewing over a pattern on tissue paper.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in your quilt.
I think your D9P came out great! And hooray for you for getting a label on it!
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe of anyone that can do such fabulous quilting on a home machine. I send my quilts to a long-armer, except for the little ones. I'd love to quilt like that!
Her quilting is awesome. I like your dissappearing nine patch.
